NOT JUST A TRIO, BUT A QUARTET, QUINTET AND DUO TOO!
When we perform as a trio, we are very appropriate those who are having an elegant intimate function. If dancing is wanted at the event, we recommend hiring us as a quartet or even a quintet. A drummer is pretty essential for dancing and adds substantial fullness to the sound. If you should want to go all out, the addition of trumpet would give you that classic celebratory jazz sound.
In fact, although we are called "Black Lab Trio," more often than not we perform as the Black Lab Trio Quartet or Quintet. We are, of course, delighted to perform in any configuration you request. Not all events are best served by a quartet or quintet, so we are always delighted to perform as a trio, or even as a duo with just guitarist Kurt Shapiro and vocalist Jacqueline Davis for very intimate events or limited budgets.
If you’ve been to the mp3 page on our website (www.blacklabmusic.com/blacklabtrio/mp3list.htm) you may have noticed that the group size is listed after each mp3 title. This is to help clients/customers pick the appropriate configuration for their event.
