I LOVED Bear Creek Country Club for our wedding! I even got tears in my eyes the first time I saw it because I knew it was the perfect place for my wedding. They have the full package - everything you need. Other places we looked, we had to find ways to put it together and make it work, but Bear Creek does it all for you- you dont have to worry about every little detail. Leslie was amazing - shes so organized and helpful. I couldnt imagine my wedding anywhere else. I got sooo many compliments on how good the food was (salmon and chicken). My guests loved the food, the environment, the view and even the staff. They even have a gorgeous tent overlooking the golf course - and it doesnt even cost any additional like all other places. I was so at ease with having my wedding at Bear Creek. Everything was there, the staff were friendly and helpful and the view is amazing.
HORRIBLE.\r\n\r\nWhen we first met with Bear Creek to discuss having our wedding reception with them, it was wonderful. We loved the venue, everyone was incredibly nice and friendly and helpful, and we were really excited about it. About 3 months until the wedding, we contacted them again, asking when we could come in and make all the final decisions (food, linens, etc). They told us there would be an open house in a couple months (about 5 weeks before the wedding), and we should go to that so we could see/taste everything. Fine. The week after the open house, we went in and confirmed what we wanted. The event coordinator wrote everything down and told us to let her know if there were any changes or anything.\r\n\r\nOn the day of the wedding, however, NOTHING was ready. We were promised that someone would be there at 8am, and that all the tables would be set up so that our wedding coordinator could decorate and make the finishing touches. Turns out, nobody from Bear Creek showed up until 1pm! (our reception started at 5pm). Our poor wedding coordinator had to go and set up all the tables herself (someone was nice enough to let her inside the building so she could get started, but nothing was set up). Our coordinator noticed that some of the colors clashed (white table skirts on a black tablecloth), and our napkin colors didnât look good at all. So, once the people from Bear Creek who were supposed to do all the set-up arrived, she asked if it was possible to change to a black table skirt and different napkin color. That simple question was met with HUGE resistance, and the Bear Creek coordinator started complaining about how we were supposed to inform them of any changes 30 days in advance (remember, she didnât even let us come to make the final decisions until within 30 days, and made it clear that we could come to her for any last-minute changes). She could have politely said âno, itâs too late to make any changes, youâll just have to try to make it workâ but instead we were attacked and yelled at. Turns out, they had the other linens on site anyway and gave them to us anyway. Why make such a big deal if you end up doing it, anyway?\r\n\r\nWe were told they could do any napkin fold we wanted. A week or two before the wedding, we emailed them the napkin fold, complete with written instructions and an instructional video. They didnât even LOOK at the instructions until after they arrived that afternoonâand started complaining that it was too complicated and too hard to do. In the end, our napkins were half-folded, and looked nothing like we requested. The least they could have done was looked at them when we emailed them the information, and told us to choose a simpler option. Instead, we got incomplete napkin folds.\r\n\r\nWhile setting up all the decorations, Bear Creek also started bring in OTHER COUPLES and future clients to look at the venue. Not only was that incredibly surprising (Iâm sorry, but I donât want strangers walking through my reception space where all my belongings are, while trying to set things up!), but the Bear Creek coordinator started telling these future clients about how horribly we were treating them, and how we âdropped a huge bomb on them this morning,â with the linens (again, she could have said âno.â We in no way demanded any change, just asked if it was possible). Not only that, but she also kept on voicing (within our earshot) to the future clients about how ugly our decorations looked, and how she couldnât believe we would want such a dark color for our linens and that overall, everything looked terrible. What in incredible lack of professionalism! If I were looking at different vendors, I would NOT be impressed by a vendor who was bad-mouthing their other clientsâespecially when they were right in the room!\r\n\r\nTurns out there were other services we should have been offered, but where not aware of-- for example, they would have hung up drapery in the room, to hide the huge framed pictures. However, no one told us that until casually the day-of, when it was too late to do anything about it. We were also told we\'d get a private room downstairs to change and relax in, but instead, I was forced to get dressed in the Women\'s Locker Room. Yes it\'s a nice golf club, but who wants to have their wedding dress stuffed into a locker like that?!\r\n\r\nAside from the whole day-of debacle, we had a terrible time getting them to cash our check. 5 weeks after we gave it to them, it finally got deposited. After repeated emails to them (from our honeymoon!) we finally got a one-line reply, basically saying âwe did everything we can, go call our finance department.â\r\n\r\nOverall, NOT a good experience! On the plus side, it was a beautiful venue, and everyone LOVED it. We loved it, too! The servers were courteous, the food was absolutely delicious, and the place was nice. However, it was all the behind-the-scenes issues that left a bad taste in our mouth. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend them to any of our friends, despite the fact that everything turned out looking nice. The lack of professionalism was the most glaring problem, and Iâm shocked everything occurred the way it did.
